Missions
Missions are a powerful reward mechanism that allows you to create structured challenges for your users by combining multiple rewards into a cohesive experience.
What are missions?
Missions are unlocked by completing a series of achievements, levels and gifts. They enable you to create collections of related rewards that users must complete to gain recognition. Missions should be challenging to unlock and carry a real sense of accomplishment for users.
Mission types and examples
You can create different types of missions to suit your engagement goals:
- Training missions that encompass a whole topic or curriculum that users need to complete
- Sales missions that include all the goals users must achieve in a particular time period
- Onboarding missions which cover a user's first day, first week and first month of accomplishments
Missions can be configured to follow a specific structure:
- Linear missions require users to complete rewards in a sequential order
- Random missions allow users to complete the required rewards in any order
- Nested missions can include other missions as completion requirements, enabling complex reward structures
Configuration settings
When setting up missions, pay attention to these important fields:
- Mission rewards: Define which rewards (achievements, levels, gifts, or other missions) the user must complete to unlock the mission
- Mission type: Determine whether rewards must be completed in a linear sequence or can be unlocked in any order (randomly)
Note: The mission type setting primarily affects how widgets display information to users. It doesn't enforce completion in the specified order within the system itself.
