Analytics provides powerful insights into your engagement strategy through customizable dashboards and data visualizations. This guide covers dashboard management, widget creation, and best practices for effective analytics.

Overview

The analytics platform allows you to:

  • Create multiple focused dashboards for different reporting needs
  • Configure widgets to display specific metrics and KPIs
  • Customize visualizations and data presentation
  • Export data for further analysis
  • Track real-time engagement metrics

Managing dashboards

Create separate dashboards to focus on specific areas like onboarding, training, or sales performance. Each dashboard can be customized with relevant widgets and saved for future use.

The dashboard controls in the top right corner provide these functions:

  • Create new dashboard: Clears the current dashboard after prompting to save changes
  • Load dashboard: Opens a window to load, clone or delete existing dashboards
  • Save dashboard: Names and saves the current dashboard configuration

New dashboards show as "Analytics - Unsaved Dashboard" until saved. Changes are marked with a red asterisk and stored locally until permanently saved.

The toolbar provides:

  • Edit toggle: Prevents accidental dashboard modifications
  • Add widget: Creates new data visualizations
  • Full screen: Maximizes dashboard view

Working with widgets

Creating widgets

When adding a new widget, configure:

Name: Display name in the dashboard

Data type:

  • Activities: Tracks activities received through the API
  • Behaviours: Monitors behaviour performance
  • Rewards: Records reward unlocks and earnings
  • Points: Tracks points earned, redeemed or expired
  • Users: Monitors user creation, deletion and membership changes

Report type:

  • Daily: Shows data type frequency per day
  • Cumulative: Displays total counts over time
  • By User: Tracks unique users per activity (not available for points/users)

Tag filtering: Compare metrics across different tagged segments

Widget settings

Available settings include:

  • Chart type: Line, area or pie chart options
  • Zoom control: Enables detailed data inspection
  • Legend position: Customizable legend placement
  • Date range: Primary and comparison period selection
  • CSV export: Downloads widget data
  • Refresh: Updates widget data
  • Configuration: Modifies widget setup
  • Delete: Removes widget from dashboard

Note: When editing is disabled, only temporary changes are allowed.

Dashboard organization

  • Group related metrics together
  • Limit widgets per dashboard for better performance
  • Use consistent naming conventions

  • Choose appropriate chart types for your data
  • Use comparison periods to identify trends

  • Limit the number of widgets with real-time updates
  • Use appropriate date ranges to optimize loading
  • Consider exporting data for heavy analysis
