Group permissions

Group permissions define what actions different user groups can perform across all sites in your Mambo.IO platform. These permissions provide a consistent access control system that helps maintain security while enabling team members to accomplish their tasks.

Overview​

The group permissions apply to all sites. They are independent of site-specific permissions and take priority over them. If you wish to set permissions on a site-by-site basis, you can set them up in the administrators page.

In order to edit Group Permissions, you need to have System Administrator or Administrator permissions.

Permission types​

System administrator​

Ability to perform all administration functions. There must be at least one group with one administrator with this permission.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-administrators

Administrator​

Ability to perform Administrator and Group management functions as well as Site management functions. Functions include:

  • Administrator and Group: creating, updating and deleting as well as managing administrator-group membership and site specific permissions.
  • Site: creating, updating, deleting and cloning as well as management of the JavaScript API Security settings.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-administrators

Manager​

Ability to perform Activity, User and Notification functions. Functions include:

  • Activity: creating, rejecting as well as managing bounties.
  • Notification: clearing notifications.
  • User: creating, updating, deleting, resetting and blacklisting.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-managers

Editor​

Ability to perform all game mechanic management functions. This includes the ability able to create, update and delete all of the game mechanics.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-editors

User​

Ability to view information. Any new administrators created will automatically join these groups, unless those groups have System Administrator or Administrator permissions.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-users

Create shared objects​

Ability to create analytics dashboards and simulations which are shared with other administrators.

Groups with this permission:

  • mambo-users

Creating new permissions​

To create a new permission:

  1. Navigate to the Group Permissions section
  2. Click on the "Create Permissions" area at the bottom of the page
  3. Select the permission type from the dropdown menu
  4. Select the group to assign this permission to
  5. Click Save

Viewing and managing existing permissions​

You can view the current permission assignments in the Group Permissions table. This displays all permission types and the groups they are assigned to.
