The Mambo platform
This section covers how the Mambo platform works at a high level.
Core platform elements
The Mambo platform consists of four fundamental elements that work together to create effective engagement strategies:
Users
Users are the foundation of the platform. They can be:
- Individual employees, customers, or partners
- Teams, departments, or groups
- Sources of metrics and performance data
Users represent anyone interacting with your systems whom you want to motivate or reward. Even when tracking metrics rather than direct interactions, the data typically originates from user or group activities.
Activities
Activities represent user actions captured by your systems and shared with Mambo. These include:
- Specific behaviours (e.g., completing a sale, updating CRM records)
- Performance metrics (e.g., first-call resolution rates, customer satisfaction scores)
- Platform interactions (e.g., point redemption, coupon usage)
Rules
The rules engine determines:
- Which actions to encourage and motivate
- How to encourage those actions
- When and how to award rewards
The platform offers extensive flexibility in rule configuration to match your engagement strategy.
Rewards
Rewards serve as catalysts for encouraging beneficial behaviours. The platform supports various reward types to:
- Motivate specific actions
- Recognise achievements
- Drive long-term engagement
- Support organisational goals
Data integration
Importing data
Mambo receives information through its APIs from any source system containing relevant behaviours and metrics. As long as you can extract and transmit data to the Mambo platform, it can be incorporated into your engagement strategy.
Presenting results
The platform offers three main options for presenting strategies and results to users:
1. Custom UI integration
- Access raw data through APIs
- Build seamless experiences within existing applications
- Create contextual engagement opportunities
- Provides maximum flexibility and relevance
2. Embedded widgets
- Integrate engagement directly into existing software
- Present rewards and achievements where users work
- Customise appearance with CSS to match your brand
- Ideal for CRM systems and custom applications
3. Standalone portal
- Offers a dedicated login portal for users
- Displays engagement strategies and results
- Shows available rewards
- Note: Generally not recommended as it separates engagement from daily workflows
